Itinerary

Day 1: Travel to our private home accommodations on the west side of Zion National Park.

Meet your guide and fellow travelers in Las Vegas, Nevada today. From the Las Vegas airport, we transfer to our private home on the west side of Zion National Park. We will go out for a group dinner to provide the opportunity to get better acquainted with our traveling companions and the trip’s itinerary.

Day 2: Hike from the Virgin River up to Observation Point with stunning views.

Our hike climbs 2,148 from the Virgin River to Observation Point. The route was pioneered by Native Americans hundreds of years ago, then improved and extended by the Park Service to reach the very rim of the canyon. This amazing trail negotiates dozens of switchbacks carved into the multi-hued sandstone walls of the canyon. Along the way we pass through the narrow confines of Echo Canyon, with the vertical face of Cable Mountain looming directly above us. The view from Observation Point (6,508') is expansive, encompassing many of Zion’s well-known landmarks.

Hiking: 8 miles. Terrain: on trail with 2,200' elevation gain and loss.

Day 3: Hike The Narrows.

The Zion Narrows is the narrowest section of Zion Canyon, and one of the most popular slot canyons in Zion National Park. This section of the Virgin River has become world famous due to it's sculpted sandstone walls and breathtaking beauty. Sections of the 2000 foot high cliffs narrow down to just 20 - 30 feet wide.

Hiking this slot canyon is unique because although it does not require any technical knowledge, the river IS the trail. It requires you to hike upstream, crossing back and forth across the Virgin River, through ankle to waist deep water. Many ambitious visitors wish to reach "Wall Street," a 1 mile section of canyon where the walls narrow to 22 feet and the water spans from wall to wall.

Although there is no significant elevation change, hiking the Narrows is considered moderately difficult. Slick bowling ball sized boulders make up much of the riverbed. River depth and temperatures fluctuate with the changing of the seasons. Hikers need to be knowledgeable about the three main risks: tripping and falling, hypothermia, and flash flooding. However, with the right equipment and information, anyone can enjoy this hike safely and comfortably.

Hiking: Up to 10 miles: Terrain: River wading in ankle- to waist-deep running water (conditions permitting – Wet suit recommended and available for rent prior to hike).

Day 4: Canyoneering Course

Today we will get to take an exciting course in canyoneering. This course will  have us exploring some of the remote canyons in the area. We will get a nice mix of hiking, bouldering, and rappelling. This is a great group adventure where we will work together to navigate through so beautiful canyons while testing our adventurous spirit as well. Today will be a day you will not forget!

Hiking: 3-5 miles. Terrain: a mix of on- and off-trail, some boulder-hopping, Rappelling, and moderately steep slick rock.

Day 5: Hike to Angel's Landing; the trail soaring 1,500' above the canyon floor.

The trail is cut into impressive sandstone walls and follows a series of switchbacks up to a grand viewpoint overlooking the Virgin River. The final hike to the top of Angel’s Landing is along a steep, narrow trail set on the spine of a sandstone fin rising almost 1,500’ above the canyon floor. Chains, for use as handholds, have been installed along the trail for hiker safety. Note: The final exposed section of the Angel’s Landing hike is optional and not recommended for those with acrophobia. All meals included.

Hiking: 5.4 miles. Terrain: moderately steep trail, 1,488’ elevation gain.

Day 6: Return to Las Vegas.

We drive to Las Vegas. We expect to arrive in Las Vegas by 12pm. Please do not schedule a flight out of Las Vegas prior to 2pm.
